FLORENCE
FORMER SAN DONNINO INCINERATOR
Event day on 8 April 2024 in Florence at the former San Donnino incinerator.
ALIA Multiutility, which manages the plant hub at the former incinerator, inaugurates with Armofer the 'first clamping' at the construction site. That is, after several months of preparatory work, 8 April is the day of the beginning of the demolition of the plant's tall chimneys: in front of the workers, the city's mayor, the press and the public, the Zeus Liebherr 980 crawler excavator, the flagship of Armofer's red fleet, demolishes the structure from the ground to the incredible height of 60.20 m thanks to its telescopic boom and three extensions. Elegant, precise, ultra-high Zeus is equipped with a CR20 MBI concrete breaker grapple and operates at 60 m with integrated dust suppression system.
Armofer has been entrusted with demolition works as part of a major structural redevelopment of the site and the area where a plant for the recovery of WEEE equipment, using state-of-the-art technology, is to be built. The works will last several months.
