Heavy duty at height!

Following a fire that broke out on December 1, 2016 at the Pavia Refinery in Sannazzaro de' Burgondi, a 100 m high structure remains compromised and unsafe. Armofer plans the securing and subsequent total demolition with a unique project of its kind in Italy and perhaps in Europe: the customization of major construction equipment (total operating weight 49 tons) to elevate them armed with powerful iron shears to a height of 100 meters without burdening the structure. It was possible with a special remote-controlled system, the modification of the work vehicles (anchoring and lifting systems, cameras and surveillance systems, booms and tools with relevant CE compliance) and securing them to powerful cranes. With three cranes at the same time, one to lift the work vehicle, one to secure the artifact to be moved (pulls up to 60 tons) and the third dedicated to the operating personnel in safety, it was possible to section the structure. Operational phase 1, from + 100 m to + 50 m, phase 2 from the 50 m elevation to the ground. From the ground, UHD excavators of operating class 90-120 tons then intervened to tackle the pile of carpentry and equipment originally placed at height but collapsed on the lower floors. Service and support mechanics were always present at the site for continuous operation and the work completed with no breakdowns or stoppages and no injury.
